Quick answer: Speechify pricing depends on which Speechify you need. The Speechify reader app (it reads text aloud to you) costs $29 a month or $139 a year for Premium. Speechify Studio (it creates voiceovers you can download and publish) costs $100 a year for Studio Starter or $300 a year for Studio Creator. Both have a free plan, but the free plans have no commercial rights.
Best value for listening: Premium yearly ($139) · Best value for voiceovers: Studio Starter ($100/year) · Skip: Premium month to month ($29)
Speechify pricing confuses a lot of people because Speechify is really two products with two price lists. I checked both official pricing pages on 22 October 2026 and combined them with my own hands-on test of Speechify from earlier this month. Below you’ll find every plan, what the credits mean in real minutes, the free plan limits, and which plan is worth buying for what you want to do.
Speechify Reader vs Speechify Studio: two products, two prices
- Speechify reader app: reads documents, web pages, PDFs and books aloud to you. It’s for listening and studying. Pricing: Free or Premium.
- Speechify Studio: a voiceover and dubbing tool for creators. You type a script, pick a voice and download the audio for videos or podcasts. Pricing: Free, Studio Starter or Studio Creator.
A Premium subscription does not include Studio, and Studio does not include the reader’s Premium features. Pick the product first, then the plan.
Speechify reader app pricing in 2026
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 10 robotic-sounding voices, speeds up to 1.5x, text to speech only |
| Premium (monthly) | $29/month | 1,000+ natural voices, 60+ languages, up to 5x speed, Scan & Listen, AI summaries and chat, voice typing, AI podcasts, Drive/Dropbox/OneDrive |
| Premium (yearly) | $139/yearabout $11.58 a month | Same as Premium monthly |
Prices checked on speechify.com/pricing on 22 October 2026, in USD. Taxes may apply.
The yearly plan is the clear choice if you’ll use Speechify for more than five months: paying monthly for a full year would cost $348, against $139 on yearly billing.

Speechify Studio pricing and how credits work
| Plan | Price | Studio credits | Voiceover time | Commercial rights |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 600 | 10 minutes | No |
| Studio Starter | $100/year | 86,400 per year | 24 hours a year | Yes |
| Studio Creator | $300/year | 345,600 per year | 96 hours a year | Yes |
Prices checked on speechify.com/pricing-studio on 22 October 2026. The page showed yearly prices only.
How the credits work: Speechify says a voiceover uses 1 credit per second of audio, dubbing uses 3 credits per second, and an AI avatar uses 30 credits per second. So for plain voiceovers, Studio Starter works out to about $4.17 per hour of audio, and Studio Creator to about $3.13 per hour. If you dub videos, divide those hours by three.

What you get on the Speechify free plan (and what you don’t)
- Reader free: robotic voices and a 1.5x speed cap. In my test, downloading the audio as MP3 needed a paid plan, even during the Premium trial.
- Studio free: 600 credits, about 10 minutes of voiceover, with access to the full voice library and the dubbing tools.
- No commercial rights on either free plan. You can test, but you can’t use free audio in monetized videos or client work. When I asked Speechify about using free clips on this site, they said no.
One surprise from my test: Studio’s help page says downloads need a paid plan, but I was able to download my free-plan voiceover as an MP3. Treat that as something that may change, and remember the free audio still has no commercial license.

Is Speechify worth the price? My test results
I tested both Speechify products in October 2026 with the same English script I use for every voice tool, plus lines in Hindi and Urdu. My scores were 4/5 for Speechify Studio and 3.7/5 for the reader app, for an overall AI Tool Wise score of 4.2 out of 5.
- Studio scored higher than the reader app in my test, and at $100 a year for 24 hours of commercial voiceover, Studio Starter is the better value of the two.
- Urdu worked in Studio, even though Urdu wasn’t in the language list I found in Speechify’s help pages. Hindi in Devanagari worked too.
- The reader app costs $139 a year, so it only pays off if you listen to documents often.

All the details are in my full Speechify review.
Speechify free trial and how to cancel
When I signed up for the reader app, the Premium trial lasted 7 days and then renewed automatically into a paid plan. If you only want to test it:
- Note the trial end date the day you start.
- Cancel at least a day before it ends, in the same place you subscribed: your Speechify account on the web, or the App Store or Google Play on your phone.
- Keep the cancellation confirmation email.
Tip: if you subscribed through your phone’s app store, you must cancel there. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

For 24 hours of voiceover a year, Speechify Studio Starter ($100) is less than half the price of Murf Creator ($228). ElevenLabs Starter is the cheapest way in at $6 a month, and its voices were the best in my tests. See my best AI voice generator list for the full comparison.
Which Speechify plan should you buy?
- Students and readers who listen every day: reader Premium, yearly ($139). Avoid the $29 monthly plan unless you need it for one month only.
- YouTubers and podcasters: Studio Starter ($100/year) for up to 24 hours of voiceover with commercial rights.
- Creators publishing several videos a week: Studio Creator ($300/year) for 96 hours.
- Just curious: stay on the free plans and test with your own text first.

Final verdict on Speechify pricing
To sum up Speechify pricing: decide what you need first. For listening, Premium is fair on yearly billing ($139) and expensive month to month ($29). For voiceovers, Studio Starter at $100 a year is one of the cheapest ways to get 24 hours of commercial-use audio, and it handled Urdu in my test. If you want the most natural voices and don’t mind paying monthly, compare it with ElevenLabs first.
