Quick verdict: The best AI voice generator I have tested is ElevenLabs. It had the most natural voices (9/10 in my test), handled Hindi, Roman Hindi and Urdu, and has the cheapest paid plan with commercial rights at $6 a month. Speechify Studio is the best value on a yearly plan, and Murf is the easiest choice for training videos and presentations.
Best overall: ElevenLabs · Best value: Speechify Studio · Best for slides and training: Murf
Choosing the best AI voice generator is hard when every tool says its voices are “human-like”. So I signed up for each one myself, ran the same English script through all of them, plus Hindi, Roman Hindi and Urdu, and checked the free plans and prices on the official pages. These are my results from tests between 1 and 5 October 2026. Each tool links to my full review.

How I tested these AI voice generators
I created a free account on each tool and used the same English script everywhere:
- English script
- “Welcome to AI Tool Wise. Today we are testing how natural this voice sounds. Can it handle numbers like 2026 and $19.99? Let’s find out together.”
- Also tested
- Hindi in Devanagari, Roman Hindi and Urdu, the voice library, the editor, downloading on the free plan, and each pricing page
I rated voice quality out of 10 by listening to the results, and I scored each tool out of 5 for the whole experience. The full method is on my How I test page.
1. ElevenLabs: the best AI voice generator overall
ElevenLabs had the most natural voices of the three, 9/10 in my test. Its Eleven v3 and v4 models also support audio tags, for example “happy”, that change how a line is read. It was also the best in Hindi, Roman Hindi and Urdu.

- Free plan: 10,000 credits a month, downloads allowed, but no commercial license and attribution required
- Paid plans: Starter $6/month with a commercial license and instant voice cloning; Creator $22/month (first month $11) with professional voice cloning
- Watch out: free-plan audio cannot be used commercially, even after you upgrade, so create your final audio on a paid plan

2. Speechify Studio: best value AI voice generator
Speechify Studio’s voices sounded clear and natural, 8.5/10 in my test, just behind ElevenLabs. It has more than 1,000 voices, plus dubbing and voice changer tools. Urdu worked well and Hindi in Devanagari was good, but Roman Hindi was weak.

- Free plan: 600 Studio credits, about 10 minutes of voiceover, no commercial rights. My free-plan download worked, although Speechify’s FAQ says downloads need a paid plan
- Paid plans: Studio Starter $100 a year (about $8.33 a month) with voice cloning and commercial rights; Studio Creator $300 a year
- Watch out: Studio is billed yearly, and the Speechify reader app is a separate subscription

3. Murf AI: best for training videos and presentations
Murf’s voices were clean but less natural than the other two, 7.5/10 in my test. Where Murf shines is its editor: a timeline that makes it easy to line up a voiceover with slides or video, plus a Canva integration on Creator and PowerPoint and Google Slides on Business. Hindi in Devanagari was good, Roman Hindi was poor and Urdu is not supported.

- Free plan: 10 minutes one time, no downloads, no commercial rights
- Paid plans: Creator $29/month or $19/month yearly (2 hours a month); Business $99/month or $66/month yearly. Voice cloning is an Enterprise add-on
- Watch out: you cannot download anything on the free plan, so you can only judge Murf inside its editor

Free plans and commercial use
| Tool | Download on free plan | Commercial use on free plan | Cheapest plan with commercial rights |
|---|---|---|---|
| ElevenLabs | Yes | No (attribution required for personal use) | Starter, $6/month |
| Speechify Studio | Worked in my test | No | Studio Starter, $100/year |
| Murf AI | No | No | Creator, $19/month yearly |
A monetized YouTube channel, client work or a website with ads or affiliate links counts as commercial use. I asked ElevenLabs and Speechify support about using free-plan samples on this site, and both said no.
Voice cloning: which tools can clone your voice?
- ElevenLabs: instant voice cloning from the $6 Starter plan, professional voice cloning from Creator
- Speechify Studio: voice cloning from Studio Starter ($100 a year)
- Murf: voice cloning is only an Enterprise add-on
I did not test voice cloning on any of the three, because it needs a paid plan.
