Quick verdict: I tested five ElevenLabs alternatives myself. The best overall is Speechify Studio: its voices came closest to ElevenLabs in my tests, Urdu worked, and it costs less than half as much per hour of audio. Murf is the pick for presentations and training videos, but it has no Urdu. If you need something free, TTSMaker gives you free MP3s and Google Translate is the quickest way to hear Urdu text. None of them beat ElevenLabs on voice quality, though.
Best overall: Speechify Studio · Best for presentations: Murf · Best free option: TTSMaker
ElevenLabs is the AI voice generator I rate highest on this site, but it isn’t right for everyone. Its credits run out fast on long scripts, the free plan has no commercial license, it doesn’t take PayPal, and you may simply want something cheaper. I’ve tested every tool on this list with my own scripts, in English and in Urdu, so the scores below come from real listening tests, not feature pages. Prices were checked on the official pricing pages between 20 and 24 October 2026.

Why people look for an ElevenLabs alternative
- Cost per hour: Speechify Studio Starter works out to about $4.17 per hour of voiceover, cheaper than ElevenLabs for long scripts.
- Credits: ElevenLabs charges 1 credit per character, so long scripts burn through a plan quickly.
- Commercial rights: free ElevenLabs audio can’t be used in monetized content.
- Payment: ElevenLabs takes cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, but not PayPal.
Full details are in my ElevenLabs pricing guide.
1. Speechify Studio: the best ElevenLabs alternative overall
My score: 4/5 · voice quality 8.5/10. Speechify Studio is a voiceover tool (separate from Speechify’s reader app). In my test its voices were the closest to ElevenLabs of every tool I tried, and Urdu worked, even though Urdu wasn’t in the language list I found in its help pages.

- Price: Studio Starter $100/year for 24 hours of voiceover (1 credit per second), Studio Creator $300/year for 96 hours. That’s about $4.17 per hour on Starter.
- Free plan: 600 credits (about 10 minutes), no commercial rights.
- Weak spot: Studio plans are billed yearly, so you pay $100 upfront, and its voices still scored below ElevenLabs in my test.
Best for: YouTubers and creators who want natural voices at the lowest price per hour. More in my Speechify review and Speechify pricing guide.
2. Murf: the best ElevenLabs alternative for presentations
My score: 4/5 · voice quality 7.5/10. Murf’s strength is its editor: you can fine-tune pauses and delivery, and the Business plan adds Emphasis, Variability, “Say It My Way” and a PowerPoint integration, which makes it handy for training videos and slides.

- Price: Creator $29/month or $19/month on yearly billing (24 hours a year); Business $99/month or $66/month yearly.
- Free plan: 10 minutes, no downloads.
- Weak spot: no Urdu at all, Roman Hindi came out badly, and the refund window is only 24 hours.
Best for: trainers, teachers and businesses making English or Hindi (Devanagari) presentation voiceovers. More in my Murf AI review and Murf pricing guide.
3. TTSMaker: the best free ElevenLabs alternative with MP3 download
My score: 3.6/5 (Urdu test). TTSMaker is a free website with no sign-up. It has four Urdu voices, and I tested Vidya, the Pakistani female voice. Numbers and English words were read correctly, but the voice sounded fake.

- Price: free, 20,000 characters a week and up to 3,000 per conversion.
- Plus: MP3 download, and the site says the audio can be used commercially for free.
- Weak spot: captcha before every conversion, files deleted after 30 minutes, and lots of ads.
Best for: simple personal audio when you have no budget.
4. Google Translate: the quickest free way to hear text
My score: 3.7/5 (Urdu test). Paste your text, pick the language and click the speaker icon. It scored highest of the free tools in my Urdu test, but the voice still sounds like a computer, and there’s no download.

Best for: checking how a sentence sounds, or listening to short texts.
5. Microsoft Edge Read Aloud: free for long web pages
My score: 3.5/5 (Urdu test). Read Aloud is built into the Edge browser (Ctrl + Shift + U). I scored it 3.5 on my mixed Urdu-English test script. It only plays audio; there’s no download.

Best for: having long articles read to you for free. Full results for all three free tools are in my Urdu text to speech test.
When ElevenLabs is still the better choice
If you stay, use the newest model: my v4 vs v3 test found it costs the same and handles emotion better.
To be honest about this list: no alternative beat ElevenLabs on voice quality in my tests. I gave ElevenLabs 9/10 for voice and 4.6/5 overall, and its Urdu was the best I’ve heard from any tool. Stay with ElevenLabs if:
- the voice must sound as human as possible (audiobooks, ads, narration)
- you need Urdu to sound natural
- you want monthly billing from $6 instead of paying a year upfront
See my ElevenLabs review, my ElevenLabs Urdu guide and my Murf vs ElevenLabs comparison.
Which ElevenLabs alternative should you choose?
- Cheaper natural voices for YouTube: Speechify Studio.
- Presentations, training videos, Canva or PowerPoint: Murf.
- Free MP3 with no account: TTSMaker.
- Just listening, free: Google Translate or Edge Read Aloud.
- Urdu content that must sound human: stay with ElevenLabs.

Tools I haven’t tested yet
Other ElevenLabs alternatives people often mention include WellSaid, PlayHT and LOVO. I haven’t run my test scripts through them yet, so I don’t rank them here.
