Quick verdict: The best AI voice generator for Hindi and Urdu in my tests is ElevenLabs. It was the only tool that sounded right in all three ways people actually write: Hindi in Devanagari, Roman Hindi and Urdu script. Speechify Studio is a good second choice for Urdu, and Murf only works for Hindi typed in Devanagari.
Best overall: ElevenLabs (4.6/5) · Good for Urdu: Speechify Studio (3.9/5) · Hindi only: Murf (4/5)
Most lists of the best AI voice generators only test English. That is a problem if your audience is in Pakistan or India, because a voice that sounds great in English can sound wrong in Hindi or Urdu, or not support Urdu at all. So I tested each tool myself in three ways: Hindi in Devanagari, Roman Hindi (Hindi typed in English letters, the way most of us type on WhatsApp) and Urdu in Urdu script. These are my results, from tests between 1 and 5 October 2026.

How I tested Hindi and Urdu voices
I signed up for each tool’s free plan myself and ran the same lines in every tool, with the same English test script as a baseline:
- English
- “Welcome to AI Tool Wise. Today we are testing how natural this voice sounds. Can it handle numbers like 2026 and $19.99? Let’s find out together.”
- Hindi
- A short line written in Devanagari script
- Roman Hindi
- The same line typed in English letters
- Urdu
- The same line in Urdu script
I listened to each result and rated it from poor to perfect, and I chose voices made for the language where the tool offered them. The full method is on my How I test page.
1. ElevenLabs: the best AI voice generator for Hindi and Urdu
ElevenLabs was the clear winner. Hindi in Devanagari and Urdu in Urdu script both sounded perfect, and Roman Hindi was very good, almost as good as Devanagari. That last point matters: you can paste a script the way you wrote it on WhatsApp, with no need to convert it first.
It also has voices made for these languages. I used “Pari M, Relatable Hindi Friend” for Hindi and “Reva, Soothing Urdu AI Companion” for Urdu. To find them, search “Hindi” or “Urdu” in the voice library, and use the Eleven v3 or v4 model, which are the multilingual models that support both languages.

- Free plan: 10,000 credits a month, no commercial license, attribution required
- Cheapest paid plan: Starter, $6 a month or $5 a month yearly, with a commercial license
- Best for: YouTube, reels, podcasts and courses in Hindi, Urdu or both

2. Speechify Studio: good Urdu, weaker Roman Hindi
Speechify Studio, Speechify’s voiceover tool, gave good results for Urdu and good results for Hindi in Devanagari, better than Speechify’s reader app. Roman Hindi was its weak spot: the result was not very good.
One surprise: Urdu is not in the voiceover language list in Speechify Studio’s FAQ, but Urdu voices were available and worked in my test. Speechify’s separate reader app, for listening to articles and documents, read Urdu pretty well too, which is useful if you want to listen to Urdu text rather than make voiceovers.

- Free plan: 600 Studio credits, about 10 minutes of voiceover, no commercial rights
- Cheapest paid plan: Studio Starter, $100 a year (about $8.33 a month), with commercial rights
- Best for: Urdu voiceovers on a yearly budget, if you write in Urdu or Devanagari script
Read my full Speechify review, which covers both Speechify Studio and the reader app.
3. Murf AI: good for Hindi in Devanagari, no Urdu
Murf read Hindi in Devanagari clearly and naturally. But it did not understand Roman Hindi well, and the result did not sound natural. Urdu does not appear in Murf’s language list, so I could not test it.

- Free plan: 10 minutes one time, no downloads, no commercial rights
- Cheapest paid plan: Creator, $29 a month or $19 a month yearly
- Best for: Hindi training videos and presentations, thanks to its timeline editor and Canva integration

Roman Hindi or Devanagari: which should you type?
If you use ElevenLabs, type whichever is easier for you. Roman Hindi sounded almost as good as Devanagari in my test.
With Speechify Studio or Murf, write your Hindi script in Devanagari. Both struggled with Roman Hindi. A quick way is to type in Roman Hindi and convert it with Google Input Tools or your phone’s Hindi keyboard before you paste it.
Tip: for Urdu, always paste the script in Urdu letters. None of the tools I tested is built to read Roman Urdu as Urdu.
Can you use free-plan voices on YouTube or a website?
Usually not for anything commercial. None of the three free plans includes commercial rights, and a monetized YouTube channel or a website with ads or affiliate links counts as commercial use.
I checked this myself. I wanted to add short free-plan samples to my reviews, so I asked ElevenLabs and Speechify support. Both said no: free-plan audio cannot be used on a site like mine. ElevenLabs’ help center also says free-plan content cannot be used commercially even after you upgrade, so make your final audio after you subscribe.
| Tool | Free plan commercial use | Cheapest plan with commercial rights |
|---|---|---|
| ElevenLabs | No, and attribution is required for non-commercial use | Starter, $6/month |
| Speechify Studio | No | Studio Starter, $100/year |
| Murf | No (and no downloads) | Creator, $19/month yearly |
Which Hindi or Urdu AI voice generator should you choose?
| If you… | Choose |
|---|---|
| Make videos in Urdu | ElevenLabs, or Speechify Studio on a yearly budget |
| Write your scripts in Roman Hindi | ElevenLabs |
| Need Hindi and Urdu in the same project | ElevenLabs |
| Make Hindi training videos or slides | Murf (write in Devanagari) |
| Want the cheapest plan with commercial rights | ElevenLabs Starter ($6/month) |
| Want to listen to Urdu text, not make voiceovers | Speechify reader app |
